Answer: To solve this problem, first we need to find out a relation between rows or columns. There is a question mark in the last row. So, we will find out the relation using the first two rows.
Row1: 10 = (12+18)/3 ;
Row2: 5 = (12+3)/3 ;
From row1 and row2 the pattern tails that, the third column entry of any row would be the one-third of the summation of the first and second column entries. So, the answer will be (8+7)/3 = 5;
One can think of the problem with respect to columns. The same technique should be followed to find out the underline pattern. Since the question mark is there in the third column, one can search for first two columns to fetch the pattern.
Col1: 8 = (12+12)/3 ;
Col2: 7 = (18+3)/3 ;
So, the required answer will be (10+5)/3 = 5;

Equation 2: 23 = [{5✕(4+1)}-2] ;
Equation 3: 47 = [{7✕(6+1)}-2] ;
Equation 1: 79 = [{9✕(8+1)}-2] ;
So the operation between first operand x1, second operand x2 and final number (after performing the operation) x3 is x3 = [{x1✕(x2+1)}-2];
Hence, the required answer is [{10✕(9+1)}-2] = 98;
